Meet the Chocobar Crew



Elaine is the creative mind behind Chocobar Cortés. Together with her husband, Ignacio Cortés, CEO of Chocolate Cortés, she played with the idea of opening a chocolate concept for many years. After thorough research around the world, they set out to create a unique concept that celebrated the family’s rich history where Chocolate Cortés played the starring role. Using her experience and passion for retail, she put together a successful team where design, history, ambiance, excellent food, and service helped create the Chocobar Cortés experience.



From inspiration to presentation, Chef Ricardo is a flavor alchemist. This young Latin chef trained at some of the best culinary institutes in Europe to become a master Chocolatier and Patissier.  Known for his imaginative and elaborate chocolate creations, Chef Ricardo designs a unique and exciting culinary experience that celebrates the Chocolate Cortés tradition. A true artisan, all of his creations are made by hand in our kitchen using only the freshest and locally sourced ingredients when available.



Carlos is the youngest of the 4th generation Cortés brothers. He has lived in New York City since 2005, recently completing his MD/MBA from NYU. Following the success of Chocobar Cortés, Carlos joined the family business to revamp the brand image and experience. He is currently in the process of expanding Chocobar Cortés beyond its Old San Juan location. His motivation is to share with the world this unique family chocolate experience that is a part of Caribbean culture and cuisine.
